This unit provides students an opportunity to complete an immersion (internship) of a minimum of 150 hrs and a maximum of 300 hrs in an organisation where they will critically evaluate and apply the theory learned in their studies.
The unit comprises three workshops exploring:
The hiring process including job seeking, application, interviews, recruitment and induction
How to secure an immersion (internship) of a minimum of 150 hours in a professional workplace undertaking duties related to their studies
How to network and engage with a variety of stakeholders regarding career development
Preparing an industry appropriate personal resume and curriculum vitae
How to create reports on their immersion experience
Students will also attend a weekend retreat where they will have an opportunity to engage with guest speakers and further develop their career plans.
While Chancellor Institute will assist students in finding placements, it is the responsibility of each student to secure a placement.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
On successful completion of this unit students will be able to:
Critically evaluate and apply the theory learned in their studies within their immersion placement
Develop workforce skills in an area related to their studies
Network and engage with a variety of stakeholders regarding career development
Create a clear, concise report on their immersion experience
CERTIFICATION
The optional assessment tasks associated with this unit provide an opportunity for participants to consolidate their learning and to benchmark their understanding against the standard set by Chancellor Institute.
Participants enrolled in this unit who successfully complete the optional assessments will qualify for a grade, academic transcript and certificate of completion for that unit.

Participants who elect not to complete the optional assessments for this unit will receive a certificate of participation for the unit.
