UNIT DESCRIPTION
In this unit students will be introduced to some of the fundamental concepts of Project Management and will engage in various activities which underpin three core areas relevant to Project Management: Scope Management, Cost Management and Time Management.
Students will analyse project situations involving scope, time and cost management issues and learn how these concepts are interrelated in a project environment.
The processes of monitoring the status of a project to update project progress and managing changes to the schedule baseline are also considered.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
On successful completion of this unit students will be able to:
- Articulate the different phases of the project cycle.
- Develop and use breakdown structure and network diagrams and project management oriented analysis tools
- Assess the health of a project using earned value analysis (EVA).
- Critically assess contemporary project management practice.
CERTIFICATION
The optional assessment tasks associated with this unit provide an opportunity for participants to consolidate their learning and to benchmark their understanding against the standard set by Chancellor Institute.
Participants enrolled in this unit who successfully complete the optional assessments will qualify for a grade, academic transcript and certificate of completion for that unit.
